the 9 phases of the tiny house project
1.building the teamI remember the day when our physics teacher told us we had to wright down our most appealing characteristics traits on a note card. It had taken the class a sold 20 minutes to fill the card.So later on that week the cards were spared out with no names, so that pares of two could chose the team there were going to work with for the rest of the year. After every group picked there team grow from two people to three- four people. I have leader a lot from the group I was placed with. we may not always agree but we learn to get the work done.
One straight that I think I had in this project was being able to take charge when my team needed it.But this project and my team wasn't always all rainbows and sunshine we had to got though the storm before we got to that part. Something I would go back and revise was that I would have probably been the sketchup person. I think this would have solved a lot of our problems that we had as a team.Doing this job I would have pushed myself because it would have required time to learn the program. |
2.Learning to live tiny.Researching was a main part of how we learned what living tiny really was. Our research included watching videos, writing bullet points, and writing essays. Some of the videos out there are crazy. Some were for a family of like 4 or 5 people and some were built like in the middle of nowhere. But I think it was a good idea to research what we were planning to build so that we could get a better idea of the project.
A strength that I had in this phase was probably watching the videos and writing innovative ideas down on paper. Something that I find as a struggle was trying to connect this new content that I was learning to how I live. I found this hard because I live in a six bedroom house with three bathrooms. whereas there are people living in 500 square foot house they call there home. But I did try and push myself to really think of some similarities. So I came up my room, it is one of the smallest rooms in the house not includig the bathrooms and this is the room I spend a majority of my time in. |
3.learning to build a park When we were told that we were going to build houses we didn't know that a park was also in our teachers heads. They were planning for us to first build a park so that at lease we would have some practice with build if we had never held any tools. The idea of helping out a community that needed it really made the whole idea better and worth while. They were so many factors that went into this park. And it was great that our team got to say that we apart of some of those little kids smiles after the park we complete.
There wasn't really strengths or struggles in this phase of the project. But just the idea of getting to help out others was enough reward and motivation.Even though we didn't live there and it was going to be a park for us.It was the idea that kids that didnt have a place to play and make friends would now have a comunal space to do just that. That is one of the reasons I really liked this phase. |
